Worship

Definition: We believe one of the central purposes for every Christian is to glorify, love and worship God with all our heart, soul and strength. We glorify God through living in obedience to His commands, through serving others, and through selfless giving. We believe that all of life is meant to be an expression of worship and that our corporate musical expression of worship exists as a public fountainhead of lives given over to bringing glory to Jesus.
Objectives: We purpose to:

  • Model and teach that worship is first and foremost a lifestyle, and that while worship may at times involve music or other art forms, these are not our primary worship expressions.
  • Provide corporate worship experiences (small or large) that facilitate intimate and life transforming encounters with Jesus.
  • Embrace a variety of worship expressions in a style that is intimate, dynamic and culturally accessible.

Word
Definition:
The Bible is our final authority in life and faith.  As a result, we seek to teach and train our people in the Scriptures in both corporate and small group settings, for the express purpose of allowing God’s Word to shape and mold us into the likeness of Jesus in our everyday lives.
Objectives:  We purpose to:

  • Teach the Bible as truth and as final authority on all matters that it touches.
  • Teach and do just what the Bible says: be "doers of the Word" who are changed and becoming more like Jesus.
  • Communicate the Word of God to unbelievers, so that through its power they can receive the new life offered through Jesus Christ and embrace His teachings.

Building Community
Definition: As a family, we seek to live, work, and come together in both corporate and smaller intimate settings.  However, we recognize that it is through small groups that we are enabled to care for one another in order that all are known, honoured, and accepted.  The nurturing of the small group empowers us to nurture others through our various ministries.
Objectives:  We purpose to:

  • Cultivate community in every aspect of our church family
  • Integrate newcomers in a non-threatening relational way.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with congregations outside of our fellowship.

Ministry
Definition: We follow the Scriptural truth where Jesus said, “ freely you have received…freely you give”. Since we have received grace, mercy and healing from God we desire to share that with those around us in prayer and in deed with special emphasis to the poor, the lost and the sick.
Objectives: We purpose to:

  • Create an atmosphere that encourages our church family to minister to each other with their lives and resources.
  • Continually look to where the Father is working and respond to the needs of individuals within our family, our community and throughout the world, as He directs.
  • Teach and model what it looks like for individuals to minister to the poor, the lost and the sick so that everyone will see how they can participate in fulfilling Jesus’ mandate

Training
Definition: Our concept of training is educating and teaching through apprenticeship. It is about show and tell. We are to learn directly from Jesus and from one another.
Objectives: We purpose to:

  • Communicate and model the ‘show and tell’ approach to training (in which trainees are introduced to ministry and then coached on the spot).
  • Provide leadership training for each area of ministry.
  • Equip every member of the Cambridge Vineyard community to do the things that Jesus did.

Sending
Definition: As we live out the command Jesus gave us, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all nations…” we look for opportunities to share what God has so freely given us with those who do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ.  As well, ‘sending’ also includes assisting other groups of believers to fulfill their mandate in Jesus.
Objectives: We purpose to:

  • Develop strategies and identify resources for sharing the Good News of the gospel of Jesus.
  • Prayerfully pursue opportunities for sending individuals from within our fellowship to minister regionally, nationally, and world-wide as the Holy Spirit leads
  • Recognize church planting as a vital part of sending and look for opportunity and timing.
